In this work we investigated extract of the aerial parts of Achillea clavenae L. Plant material was collected at Katun Carina on mountain Komovi (Montenegro) in July 1999. The air - dried aerial parts were cut into small pieces and extracted with petrol ether - diethyl ether -methanol (1:1:1) for 48^h at room temperature. The concentrated extract was subjected to silica gel dry - flash chromatography, starting elution with petrol ether and gradually increasing polarity of the solvent by addition of Et₂O. Three flavonols of quercetagetin type (two trimethylated and one tetramethylated) were isolated using preparative TLC. One of them was identified by ¹H NMR, UV/Vis and IR as centaureidin (i.e. 3,6,4'-trimethoxy-5,7,3'-trihydroxyflavone). The identification of the remaining two compounds is in progress.
