This paper discusses the needs and economic importance of growing medicinal plants by intercropping in newly established orchards. Based on the results obtained the conclusion, which tends to emerge is the advantage of additional income earned contributing to a rational use of the capital invested and the land on which the orchard had newly been established. In addition, a favorable economic basis is being ensured contributing to both the enhancement of orchard growing and the earning of additional income by the producer. This has been the main objective of the study.

A simultaneous growth of different crops on the same land area contributes to a rational use of land and its proper maintenance, rapid reproduction of the capital, which had been invested in the newly established orchards. Simultaneous fruit and medicinal plant growing on the same land area contributes to profitable economic results. There has been so far no major economic research focusing on medicinal plant growing in newly established orchards, especially of pommel and stone fruits, in wider row spacing.

The author points to the modes, procedures and measures enhancing medicinal plant growing under our conditions favouring intensive development of perennial crops.
